Opulence With Antiques

This 1936 Bugatti is on display at the Mullin Automotive Museum

, Oxnard in California. When you see it you almost start understanding the meaning of the term priceless. Otherwise how would you explain why someone would be willing to pay $35 million for a mere car.

Someone would be paying that much means there must be others who must be very close to matching it. But the strange part is that after paying the astronomical amount you want to stay anonymous. Yes the buyer who purchased the car is anonymous. He purchased it from the estate of Dr. Peter Williamson, a prominent neurologist who had bought the car at a Sothebys auction here in Los Angeles in June 1971.

He had bought it for a then princely sum of $59,000 and held on to it for almost four decades. There are many car nuts in the world but how many of them have that kind of money. The cheaper option obviously is to buy replicas or go in for cheaper cars.

The scroll seems to have been miniaturized in a very modern way yet the look is very antique, very old and very royal. The look and get up is inspired by a wrist watch with a strap to boot. Like someone commented that it looks like a contraption developed for James Bond. A scroll miniaturized, and you start thinking how it can be used in the contemporary world.

Very useful for the politicians and leaders who use the teleprompter expertly to sound like know all savior of the world. Just a glance at the scroll as if they are checking the time and they can keep the flow going. They have an image to protect and this could just be another tool.

The other use could be in the automotive field. The direction to a destination could be printed and fit in to the scroll so that you do not miss a crucial turn or an important land mark. You can keep thinking about more useful applications but I know if people actually start using it someone will come up with a digital version with enormous capacity and many options but I can tell you one thing that the fun will go out of the product.

Elvis Presley died pretty young, while he was not copying tunes from less fortunate black musicians and claiming as his own, he went ahead and shopped for some of the most expensive stuff in the world back then, and trust me that was a lot of money.

The King is back with a bang to make some money even after his death by selling some of his belongings at the Heritage Auctions August 14th Elvis Auction at the Peabody Hotel in Memphis.

Elvis Presleys White Knabe Grand Piano is expected to fetch more than $1 million and his original 1955 RCA Contract, a signed Graceland Purchase Agreement, personal address book, love letter, jumpsuit and handgun are some of the other stuff that would go under the hammer.

There is also a huge opal ring that would be sold off for an incredible price of $50,000. A while ago I wondered which countrys King he could be, and now I know that if there were a nation of Bling, he would be the king of that land.
