Good product. Do what he says, that once you figure out the manual and play with a few hours. Manual needs more examples of what can make the timer, because it can actually water in many configurations. It's just not well developed in the accompanying literature.

CheapestOrbit 62032 Yard Watering System
Been 5 systems for four years, purchasing a fifth now
I water 4 buildings lawns, which includes 17 zones, as soon as I get the new kit. We have been watering 15 zones for four years now. We have only needed one set of batteries per season so far. 2 of the valves have failed over the years, but that was from a year when they were accidentally left out all winter. The best thing about this product is that I water between 3am and 5am, the best times to water for evaporation, and I don't have to get up and wander around town to do it.
This product looses one star because it is not a complete system replacement. Someday I imagine they will allow you more flexibility in programing, but for now you are stuck with watering one zone at a time and each zone after the other. Once you figure this out, just water more less often or less more often.
What it really gets down with this system is price and function. If you are willing to work around hoses laying in the yard, which doesn't bother me, than this is a great inexpensive replacement for digging up the yard to put in an expensive system that requires the occasional expensive maintenance. When my line goes down, I just replace a hose, I don't have to dig up the yard to get to it.
Recommendation: One reviewer noted that the unit leaked. We had the same problem until we started using Teflon tape on the faucet. We don't leak anymore.

Great little system
I bought this about 2 weeks ago from a Canadian retailer called Canadian Tire (more like a hardware store than just a tire store). It came in a kit with a 4-way splitter, the actual unit and some hose connectors. I wasn't looking for anything too complex as I just wanted to make sure our lawns were watered with some type of frequency. The ability to water at a specific time of day was perfect and for me, the serial watering was fine as I have set it simply to water at 3:00 am for an hour on the front and then an hour on the back. It has the ability for 4 different outputs, so if you have a larger or more complex watering requirement, you can also use the additional outputs (you would have to buy another valve).
The other night I work up at 4:00 am and as I listened carefully, I could hear the sprinkler going off, which is great.
The "cycles" description in the manual was a little confusing, but I don't really need any type of cycles in my yard as it is not very big.
All in, I found it good value and very easy to use.

No Problems
We had bought this product to help us water our newly seeded lawn we had put in. I have been very impressed with this product and it has performed without problems for us. This has done what it was suppose to do, I am not looking at it to perform as an inground system.
One drawback to this product is the water delay can only be set for 24hrs or less; to correct this problem we just shut the water off at the house spicket.
No batteries have had to been changed out and we have used this thing everyday for the past month three times a day.

Great watering system!
I had used another brand of watering system before but need more than one control outlet since I have a big yard and was having a low pressure watering problem with my current one. This Orbit Yard Watering system is just what I need. In fact, I bought another controller from Amazon so I can control 3 different zone. Some reviewers complained about the program in this unit. However, once I get familiar with the program, I am happy with it. The manual is a bit confusing.
The only worry I have is I am not sure if the control valves will fail shut when there is a low battery on the unit. My previous watering system has a fail open function when it has low battery. One time we were away from home for a few days and the watering system just kept watering and flooded my yard. I hope this unit would not do that. So far one month has passed and the battery is still going strong.

Useable, but not great
I have four of these in various places around our property, controlling anywhere from one to four valves. They're watering the yard through sprinklers, the vegetable garden and some potted plants through a drip irrigation system, and a raised bed through a soaker hose. The controllers are moderately easy to program. Once you figure out the quirks you can change timing and duration fairly quickly. As others have noted they aren't as flexible as you might like in letting you mix-and-match when various zones get watered, but it works well enough for me. As I noted in my review of the valves they are cheap junk and the Achilles' heel of this setup. Plan on replacing them regularly. The manifolds seem decent. They are a bit unwieldy attached directly to a faucet, and the gardeners bumped into one and snapped it off at the faucet once, so I keep them all on faucet extension hoses now.
I'm going on about three years of experience with these now. I've had to replace one controller that got wet, otherwise the controllers seem pretty durable. Batteries last about a year, which seems pretty good. For the price these are a decent alternative to putting in real sprinklers, but to some extent you get what you pay for.

I have 3 timers and 8 valves running my entire yard and landscaping. other than a valve freezing unexpectedly (I live in Florida) I have had no issues for 4 years... I just called orbit customer service to buy a replacement timer because one of the displays is half invisible, and the lady informed me they have a 6 year warranty. They are sending me a new timer for free! thats service when you try to buy something and they give it to you without asking!!!
