Organic Cosmetics, is it for Real?

Most women these days have heard about organic cosmetics but not everyone realizes, as yet, its importance. I was actually one of them until I decided one day to look into it more closely.

My makeup kit consists of both synthetic and mineral lipstick, mineral foundation and synthetic eye makeup and brushes. Since I have been using cosmetics for more than a decade now, I see no sense of urgency in switching completely to a mineral makeup line. But just recently, I tried looking into the ingredients of my preferred mineral foundation. As it turned out, it still contains not only allergy causing ingredients but worse, according to Environmental Working Group website, one ingredient included in my preferred foundation is linked to cancer.

Immediately after that, I started checking other brands which are considerably safer than my existing brand. I even looked into a popular brand or organic cosmetics from the UK and although some of their products are relatively safer, still there's a few which registered in the level 7-9 which means that some of the ingredients they use are pose a threat to our health. Having learned all of these, I decided to switch to another brand whose products have very minimal to zero hazardous ingredients. What I especially like about this brand is that they have published on their website, a complete list of ingredients that each of their product have. Included in the list are those that have been identified as harmful when skin exposure is in bigger dozes. This affords us, the consumers to make the decisions for ourselves knowing the content of each of their product. Another thing I like about my new brand is the availability of their organic cosmetic brushes which are made of high quality vegan material called taklon. Taklon is a synthetic polyester fiber which is considered to be more hygienic than real hair brushes. Compared to real hair brushes, taklon doesn't have protein or allergen components which make it a better alternative than animal hair brushes.

Several kinds of professional organic cosmetic brushes are available at Afterglow Cosmetics. They even sell an organic brush cleanser to keep your brushes free from oil and bacteria build up. To get your own organic cosmetics brush, visit Afterglow at http://afterglowcosmetics.com/cosmetic_brushes.
