Our Modern Eating Habits And The Eating Habits Of Our Ancestors

In our modern times an ever increasing number of people are affected by obesity

, diabetes and cardiovascular disease. This made it very vital hat we rethink how important our diet is for our health. If you take a second and compare what you eat today to what your grandparents used to eat you will observe major differences. Now compare that to what humans used to eat 1000 and 10000 years ago.

I am more than sure that our great grandparents would have a difficult time recognizing many of the food we consume on a daily basis nowadays. We could monitor how our modern diet affects their weight, cholesterol level and general health. If you take into consideration our 1000o years old ancestors there is absolutely no chance they would be able to recognize any food we eat today. Fast food is everywhere and that is the problem.

In evaluating the quality of our modern nutrition we have to take a step back and look at the nutrition of out ancestors. We have very different eating habits than our ancestors had. The ever growing amount of junk food and its consumption is creating severe health problems for the modern man.

We consume huge quantities of industrialized food and to little quantities of fresh vegetables and fruits. We eat a lot less fibers compared to the dietary fiber intake of our ancestors. Lately the quantity of dietary fibers that we consume daily has become smaller and smaller. But our human body did not have the required time to adapt itself to our modern nutrition. The change was fast and it is speeding up without showing signs of ever slowing down.

If we continue to indulge in our bad eating habits we will destroy any chances of enjoying a healthy future. It seems that the major health problems that the future holds for us as a species are constipation, overweight and heart diseases. If you want to avoid them you have to go to the basics and start eating what our ancestors used to eat daily. Eat more fruits and vegetables and you will avoid lots of health problems. You will also lose weight and stay fit easier.

Establishing exactly what our ancestors ate daily is quite difficult if not impossible. As we look to more recent times the more we can find out about the eating habits of our ancestors. But who know what we used to eat 10000 years ago when we were living in caves. I am sure it was much healthier food than the junk food we eat now.
