The actual "shopping" process has been streamlined as well, with the site opting for Amazon-inspired shopping cart and checkout functions that allow users to add items to their digital carts without having to leave the page or stop searching.A new member's area for repeat shoppers will introduce a host of other helpful functions in an attempt to create brand loyalty and encourage repeat visits to the site. Member accounts come with a custom profile, item recommendations, real-time shipping information and regular "members-only" special offers.

Like many retailers lacking a physical location, profit margins for Sierra Trading Post are likely very different from the average outdoor sporting goods outlet. Currently, cheap web hosting costs and wholesale buying practices keep overheads low for the company, and usability had a very direct correlation to profit for the company.
