Outdoor Recreation All Year Round

Utah is home to many great getaway destination spots

. From golfing and water sports activities in the summer; to skiing and snowboarding in the winter, the residents and visitors to Utah can always find something to keep them occupied in the majestic mountain scenery.

Settled by early pioneers that headed west seeking refuge from religious persecution the state of Utah has blossomed from being a desolate wasteland to being a number one outdoor recreational paradise. During the summer months, hiking, mountain climbing and off-road recreation provide hours of entertainment for the people that escape to the mountain air. In the fall the mountains are home to hunters that trek through the untamed frontier in search of the perfect twelve-point buck. As winter arrives in the mountains of Utah, the ski season brings in tens of thousands of downhill sports enthusiasts that come to the Utah resorts to experience the fresh power snow and ski the runs of the Olympic venues from the 2002 games that were held in Salt Lake City.

Nestled in the high valley pass that connects the Utah resort town of Park City and Provo are the towns of Midway and Heber. Hidden away from the bustling cities in the valleys below the town of Midway has become a retreat destination all its own. With activities that take place year round the town of Midway plays host to its own Swiss Days each September. The Utah resort community is also home to the Homestead Crater that houses a natural 55-foot cavern filled with water from a volcanic hot spring. The healing waters of the hot spring have found their way in to the nearby spa of the Utah resort. Enjoyed by visitors year round the 200-foot diameter domed cavern contains a pool of warm water that is 65-deep. Swimmers and scuba divers alike frequent the cavern that maintains a tepid 90-degree temperature throughout the year. After spending the day either on the golf course over the summer months, or on the ski slopes of nearby Park City in the wintertime, the relaxing natural hot springs of the Homestead Crater provide Utah resort visitors with a well-deserved spa treatment to relax the muscles and refresh the senses.

For a short break from the daily grind of the city residents of Utah can escape to the mountains for a long-weekend away of enjoy the 30-minute drive up Provo Canyon to sneak out for an afternoon golf game. But for the out-of-state visitors that frequent the Utah resort communities there is nothing quite like getting out into the fresh mountain air to really clear away the tensions and stresses of daily life.
