, Your World Outdoors. Us, and Great Lakes States. Info, issued an updated report today entitled "Recent Survival Gear Trends," which highlighted some of the changes in survival gear sales, survival groups, and other survival trends.

In issuing this updated report, Mr. Holm noted that survivalist groups have grown dramatically over the past two years. "With a significant number of Americans fed up with the federal government and bureaucracy in general, survivalist blogs are reporting both increases in members and in the daily posts to their blogs. The BP disaster and this summer's unusual weather in many parts of the globe have reinforced the notion that the end is near. Further with the rise of the Tea Party in this country, the rhetoric of alarmists grows louder. We've also seen a big increase in the number survival websites, forums, and blogs."

According to the NSGA, outdoors people of all sorts geared up this summer. "Tent sales increased 14%, packs 7% and mummy bags 6%. Year-to-date, all equipment dollar sales were up 12% with the biggest gains coming from online retailers. Internet sales of outdoor products increased 22%.""Recent RV shipments reached their highest level in more than two years. July marked the 10th consecutive month where shipments were greater than the same month one year earlier. The industry has shipped an increase in RVs of 87.1% from 2009. RV sales are projected to post a gain of 39% from 2009 shipments."

Some of the other trends surveyed in our report indicate that firearm and ammunition sales continue to grow slightly with $105.9 million spent so far Q3 2010, for firearms compared with $127 million for the same period in 2009 and $76.2 million for the same period in 2008. Some firearm dealers report huge backlogs of orders and an inability to keep up with demand. The fear of home invasions, sexual assaults, and cities cutting back on their police departments were cited as three main reasons for purchasing a firearm. In addition, according to the U.S. Department of Justice, there were more than 300 international or domestic terrorists incarcerated in U.S. federal prison facilities.

Finally, our research shows that interest in survival kits and home preparation remains strong. With an increase in the number of websites that sell emergency & survival kits, the market temporarily has become saturated with vendors. We have seen a major trend in Do-It-Yourself projects, especially in the home made D-I-Y survival kits, and retailers specializing in different types of survival kits known as niche marketing. Additionally, there has been a surge in home grown vegetables, "Survival Gardens," as well as stocking up on non-perishable food and water.

In conclusion, we feel that the sense in this country is of disillusion, disgust, and disappointment. There is very low Congressional approval; a large number of Americans who believe the country is on the wrong track and major discontent among voters with all levels of government. Americans overwhelmingly cite the most important problems they face are the economy, jobs, and their own personal safety.

All this bodes well for the future of survival goods and services."
