Outlook Express Errors - An Introduction

Outlook Express is the default email client in Windows

. From Win Vista onwards it has been renamed as Windows Mail.

While dealing with Outlook Express you might face a lot of errors which you need to know. At least if you know the basics, it helps you to fix the problem easily instead of waiting for someone to help you out. In these email clients there are certain errors which seems big but easy to troubleshoot. E.g. 0x800CCC18 - Logon attempt failed- While logging in we might come across this error but there is nothing to panic. You just need to recheck whether his logon credentials are correct or not. If issue still persists, then you need to check whether your account is still active or not.

Likewise, there are numerous Outlook Express errors which might be easy or a little tough to fix but ultimately it is fixable. Errors like 0x800CCC19 Timeout, 0x800CCC1A - Unable to connect using SSL can be fixed easily. These errors need a little common sense to fix. For instance, the time out error, in this case it should be easily understood that the application has timed out. In such cases the first troubleshooting step would be restarting the application. If issue still persists restarting the system should fix the issue. In case, if the issue still persists then there could be a possibility that the pop3uidl.dbx file which keeps a log of the emails might have become corrupt. In such a scenario, one needs to search for the file, rename it to pop3uidl.xxx and restart the pc. This would fix the issue.

In case of the other errors like 0x800CCC1A - Unable to connect using SSL it is easily understandable that the issue is with the SSL connection. Removing the SSL settings under account settings would fix the issue.

0x800CCC00 - Authentication did not load

1.Reboot the computer and try again

2.Check Service Status for mail problems

3.Setup a new account in Outlook Express, re-entering your mail connection details. There might also be chance that your account has become corrupt.

0x800CCC16 - User account not recognized

1.The most common cause for this is incorrect username and password details

2.If they are not wrong, try setting up another identity with the same details. Sometimes accounts become corrupted. Creating a new copy of your email account can fix the problem
