You can add lemon juice if you also want to lose weight. Including ginger while warming also adds to the flavor and helps drink more easily and also improves digestion.

Do not have anything else for at least around half an hour after you finish drinking the water.

You may need to urinate more frequently in the first few weeks but there is nothing to worry. After some time you would pass urine normally, though in more quantity.
