Overcoming Adversity
Motivational Speaker Scott Greenberg Speaks on Adversity
Let's face it, everyone at one time or another has experienced a difficult situation where they have felt challenged or defeated. As a motivational speaker who often speaks on adversity, I have had my own share of difficult circumstances in my life. In fact, anyone who has heard me speak knows that I actually became a motivational speaker after spending a year of my life battling cancer. Trust me, I understand adversity.
Resilience and overcoming adversity is only one of many topics I speak on, however I have to admit, it's probably my favorite topic because it's all about the power we have of "choosing" how we react to our circumstances. Life is about making choices and amidst my own challenges, I chose to fight and use this difficult situation to my advantage rather than allowing it to rule my life. You see, I had cancer but the cancer didn't have me. I chose my attitude and eventually it led to becoming a motivational speaker down the road. That definitely was not my plan.
None of us can control what happens to us but we can control the reaction that we will have with life's little bumps in the road. Ultimately, our reactions to life's problems and the choices we make determine how good or bad our lives will be.
We all are destined to face challenges at one point or another in life. These problems are challenging enough without adding stress, anxiety, worry, and "freaking out" to the mix, making the problem worse. Often times, our problems involve self-imposed factors which are the source of our suffering. With a little mental discipline we can minimize or eliminate this type of thinking and replace it with more positive, productive thoughts.
Just remember, you are stronger than you think and your problems are typically not as bad as you think. Those who take control of their thought life and surround themselves with positive people who exercise control over their own thought lives are sure to experience the joy that comes from overcoming adversity.
Take this with youKeep your thoughts in check and always be a part of the solution, not part of the problem. Focus on where you do have control and you're sure to boost your power and ease your pain.
