Overseas Calls Are Possible in Times of Difficulties

I strongly believe that the strong bond that ties our family together is communication

. The essence of keeping the communication lines open for every member could be seen when we encounter some difficulties and problems.

I can share one of my unforgotten stories how our close ties with one another were tested. I remember that day when we were calmly resting in our living room while watching our favorite movie and munching our favorite chips and cookies. Then suddenly a strong loud noise of lightning stroke the clear sky in the atmosphere, eventually poured a heavy rain.

My father knew that I am afraid of lightening so he sat beside me and assured me that everything will be okay. But I knew, deep inside that my father was troubled and I felt that things will never be fine from that moment. I was correct.

We never had experienced such strong intensity of typhoon. For the first time in my life, as far as I could remember, that was the worst and strongest typhoon that hit our place. Worst of all, out of nowhere, sudden inflow of water is starting to penetrate inside our house. I was praying not now please, but I guess my prayers were too late. The flood is coming and coming.

I didn't know where to begin and what to do. But with my father's presence of mind and good command, he was able to communicate with us clearly and we were able to get the message fast. We hurriedly transferred some of our things upstairs. Thanks to adrenaline rush; we could carry anything that I never imagined we could carry.

Some of our things were saved, some were not. But the good thing is that all of us were safe upstairs. Immediately, the news spread over the internet. And I thank internet technology for giving us the hope to recover. Why hope?

As soon as the news was broadcasted over the internet, I was overjoyed with the flooding of overseas calls from our relatives who wanted to extend their aid and support. Those overseas calls gave us strength as well to move on and start afresh.

It has been a year now since that calamity hit our family, but I am proud to say that my relatives maintained their support to us that further strengthen our bonds with each other. We don't expect and obligate them, yet it is much more overwhelming to receive overseas calls from time to time from a simple check-up and updates on our status to the extended help they are offering us.

And I vow to tie the bond stronger.
