The hot metal from the Blast furnace is inserted into a large refractory-stripped holder called the ladle.

The melted metal within the ladle is passed directly for essential oxygen to the pretreatment phase to decrease the refining capacity of silicon, sulfur, and phosphorus. During the "De-sulfuring" phase, a tester is inserted into the melted iron inside the ladle and huge amounts of powdered magnesium are applied to it. Sulfur impurities are decreased through the magnesium sulfide in a strong exothermic reaction.

The furnace is fed with the substances named as charging ingredients.

The vessel is then posed perpendicular and a water-cooled tester is inserted down into it. The tester blows like 99% of oxygen over the iron, flaming the carbon absorbed in the metal and burning it to extract the carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide, which affects the temperature to increase to approximately 1700C, Which in return melts and reduces the carbon content of the melted iron therefore removes the undesired chemical components.

Fluxes are passed into vessels to isolate the slag, by absorbing impurities of the making process.

The BOS vessel is tilted and the steel gets poured into a huge ladle. This operation is called Steel-Tapping the, its then refined more over within the ladle oven, this occurs through applying alloy substances to supply the desired metal with specific features demanded by the client. In some cases, argon or nitrogen gas bubble onto the ladle to ensure the stability of the mixed alloys.

When the metal is moved from the BOS vessel, the slag, saturated with impurities, is poured away and left to be cooled.
