The Prince Edward Island of parks has no less than 11 campground parks along with 14 day use parks featuring wonderful white sand beaches and beautiful scenery. Operating schedules vary according to the park and its location on PEI. In order to get the best rates and to ensure you can reserve your preferred time, check early in the month of May, for that is the time when the schedule is set. The fee schedule is the same for all parks with daily rates ranging from $23-$25 for a site without electricity. If you want electricity and water than expect to pay an extra dollar or two per day. Sites with sewer services will up the price to around $30 per day. When making your reservations, tell the travel agent if you're over the age of 60 as that will lead to an extra 10% discount with all day use parks free of charge.

You should start doing your research and making reservations beginning in late April for the following season. You can let your travel agent handle the details or you can call each park directly, or go online to access all information. You will be asked for arrival date, length of stay and the kind of campsite your require. You will probably also need a credit card to guarantee your reservation.

PEI parks offer something for everyone. There are six full function parks on the western end including Jacques Cartier, which is west of Alberton, spanning to Bonshaw in Queens County. This park has a complete schedule of educational and entertaining programs, supervised swimming and special events. Some of the special events include Seniors Day, Kids Day, Take a Hike nature hikes, a beach volleyball tournament, as well as a host of festivals and celebrations. Similar schedules can also be found at Mill River, Cedar Dunes and Cabot Beach. All of these parks are fully staffed with naturalists ready and waiting to answer your questions. There are also lifeguards at all beaches and fully service marinas for your boating fun.

There are plenty of activities for the little people too including a large array of playground equipment upon which to climb and play.
