PREVENTION OF WOODS FROM TERMITES!!

The termites are a group of eusocial insects and along with ants and some bees and wasps termites divide labor among gender lines, produce overlapping generations and take care of young collectively. Termites mostly feed on dead plant material, generally in the form of wood, leaf litter, soil, or animal dung, and about 10% of the estimated 4,000 species are economically significant as pests that cause serious structural damage to buildings, crops or plantation forests. Termites are generally grouped according to their feeding behavior and the commonly used groupings are subterranean, soil-feeding, dry wood, damp wood, and grass-eating. Of these, subterranean and dry woods are primarily responsible for damage to human-made structure. They harm all type of wood but softer woods that broken down more easily and digested. Mostly insist of harder wood like Teak Wood but always keep in mind that there is no definite "anti-termite wood" and their is almost six types but only two which do damage to tree stumps, wood piles, houses.

There are many localized/spot treatment methods available for the removal and termite prevention. One option is to inject an aerosol insecticide, such as Invader HPX or PT-565. Foaming the gallery with the Chapin Foamer and Premise 2 is a very common practice for professionals. Another treatment method is to apply a dust into the gallery using Borid Turbo or Timbor and injecting the gallery with Jecta after one of these initial treatment methods will completely eliminate the colony and protect the surrounding wood for years to come. After treatment of the existing gallery, application of Bora-Care, Jecta or Impel Rods will prevent further infestation for the life of the home. Treating as many wood members with Timbor or Bora-Care, especially in critical areas will ensure that there is no future infestation of dry wood termites.

Control measures are given here which includes reducing the potential for dry wood termite infestations, termite prevention, entry or removal of infested wood and applying chemicals for remedial treatment. Fumigation is an effective termite control measure and is effectual only in case of dry wood termites and if you feel there is severe infestation of termites, then you should not waste further time and get in touch with a professional who will attend to and sort out the problem. If you waste further time then the problem will worsen and you will have to adopt very expensive methods.

Vikane gas is colorless, odorless and dissipates quickly, leaving no residue. But Vikane is extremely toxic and can depress the central nervous system and long-term exposure can cause blood and bone problem. Another method is shock treatment; according to it the electrogun is a hand-held device with a 90,000-volt electric current that penetrates wood to electrocute termites because the current is pulsating, it doesn't burn the wood.

Oil made from orange peels can kill termites on contact and this oil is injected into wood timbers or, if wood is unpainted, applied topically to soak in. Painting oil is not only effective, but it smells good too. Other method of termite prevention is to pump liquid nitrogen through tiny holes drilled into infested wood which will eliminate termites.
