PS3 Repairs -- What to Do When You Need a PS3 Controller Fix

Those of us who are lucky enough to own a Sony Playstation 3 (often after a long wait) have used it a LOT, often for hours on end. Unfortunately, we didn't know that our expensive console was literally wearing out, that we would end up seeing an increasing number of major errors that shut it down completely. Not surprisingly, the only way to deal with the need for a proper PS3 controller fix, or other PS3 repairs, is to send the entire unit back to Sony. Then you wait for several weeks, and pay $150 and up, before you get your console back. And you don't even know that you'll get your own back; it might be a refurbished console. Either way, all your data is gone.

It should be their issue if the console overheats when you're using it in the normal fashion, but you'll still be charged for the repairs.
