Packing Tips For Your Snowboarding Holiday

So, now rather than holidays being something that only the middle and upper classes of society are privy to, they are accessible to everyone. And with snowboarding rising in popularity it seems more and more people are beginning to take their sport abroad.

Unlike a regular holiday a visit to a ski resort requires a bit more thought and planning when it comes to packing, and theres no doubt that as you count down the days to your departure the list of items that you need to bring will continually grow. Anyone that regularly flies will be fully aware that having excess baggage can cause problems due to the recent stringent limits that airlines have introduced. Therefore packing techniques are of even more importance on this type of holiday, so lets consider what you need.

The kit there are a number of necessities for a ski holiday, for instance your snowboard or skis, this can be easily booked as further baggage with your airline, usually under sports equipment. You will need to ensure that you have your board or skis, your boots, waterproof clothing, gloves, helmet and goggles. If you are planning to be out there for an extended period of time then it can be a good idea to take spares too.

As well as bringing waterproof clothing it is also useful to ensure that you have warm clothing, though they are far from cool (no pun intended), thermal base layers are extremely practical for this type of situation as they will keep you warm yet still allow breathability.


There are a number of materials that thermal base layers are available in, such as fleece, polyester, and merino wool. Try to bring clothes that will dry fast; it is also important to remember ski socks, warm jumpers and trousers, and a good hat. Suitable footwear should be considered too, waterproof boots are usually the best idea. Try to avoid wellies as; while they may be waterproof, they lack the necessary lining to keep your feet warm. In addition to this you will also need some lighter shoes or trainers for wearing indoors.
