When you are ready for a new look in your shower you may think about removing the ceramic tiles that are on your wall. But, this can be time consuming. This is especially true if you do it correctly. Therefore, you might want to consider simply painting the tiles in order to save yourself time and to give your bathroom an entirely new look.
Just follow these simple steps and you will be on your way to a brand new look.
1.) You need to start by washing the tiles very well. You need to use good soap and you need a scrub brush to make sure you are getting all of the soap scum off of the tiles.
2.) Spend some time with a fine grade piece of sandpaper. You will need to go over all of the tiles and you will need to rub them gently. When you do this you are creating a rough surface. This will help the paint stay on the tiles when you are ready for it.
3.) Once you are finished sanding you will need to get a piece of cloth that is lint free and you will need to wipe the walls off. This will remove any dust that may be on the walls left over from sanding.
4.) Next, you need to apply primer to the walls and the grout lines. You will let this dry completely before you go any further.
5.) Use oil based paint to cover the tile. You need to complete this step twice but you want to make sure that you let the paint dry before you apply the second coat.
6.) Get another color and fill in the grout lines. You may want to use a small paintbrush to do this so that you do not get any paint on the tiles.
Once you let the paint dry completely you will have a beautiful new shower.
