I had been sure that my next iron would be a Rowenta, based on all the buzz and ads I'd seen. But when I read the buyer's reviews, I was shocked at all the reports of leaking and dissatisfaction. Again, based on the reviews, I ordered the Panasonic. It's been great! Large water reservoir which is easy to fill either on the iron or off. Plenty of steam, heats up quickly, and the retractable cord makes sure the dog won't pull the Panasonic NI-C78SR iron over.
(Although the cord takes several pumps of the retracting button). I thought I'd hate the auto-off feature, since I quilt and I'm continually switching between the iron and the sewing machine, but just one instance of forgetting to turn the iron off when I went to bed made me really appreciate the feature. Yes, I have to wait a couple of minutes for the iron to heat up if I've spent too long on the sewing machine, but the safety aspect is well worth the wait.
I had my last iron for 20 years, and I hope this one does half as well!
Panasonic NI-C78SR It Will Make You Like Ironing Again

I always thought you had to spend around a hundred dollars to find a decent iron. I used to be a Rowenta man myself but was very disappointed with the last one I bought. After reading the reviews, I decided to give this one a try. So far, I'm very happy with Panasonic NI-C78SR. I didn't give it 5 stars because I've only been using it for about 2 weeks and it has yet to impress me by withstanding the test of time.
The removable filler is a nice touch because we have a small bathroom sink and a regular iron will not fit under the faucet. The retractable cord is great because we don't have to worry about our toddler pulling it down on her head.
My only complaint so far is that the cord is noisy enough to wake someone up when being pulled in and out. Overall, it gives good steam and doesn't spit and leak all over my clothes like our old Rowenta iron had done from day one.
