Panasonic TC-L42D30 Viera 42 LED HDTV Review
The PanasonicTC-L42D30 Viera 42 LED HDTV strives to provide impressive 1080p viewing quality from LEDbut can it do it?
Overall Thoughts & Points From Misc. Reviews:
The crux of the TC-L42D30 is the IPS Alpha LED LCD Technology. By using power-saving LED backlights on top and bottom of the panel, you get excellent light transmittance, great color rendering, and a very wide viewing angle so that the picture appears clear even when not situated directly in front of the TV. (Panasonic this Viera 42 model has a viewing angle of 178-degrees both vertically and horizontally). The LED backlights also using Dynamic Contrast to make blacks and other dark hues look good (no fading) and adjust with each scene for maximum brilliance.
120Hz Motion Picture Pro 4 converts the normal 60 frames shown each second into 120 frames per second. This improves motion quality, makes even fast scenes look more natural, and reduced afterimages.
The TC-L42D30 comes with a wide array of Viera features, including DNLA/Wi-Fi readiness, Game Mode to optimize viewing settings during gameplay, and the Viera Tools interface to access all key functions.
Viera Link allows you to inter-connect your other audio/visual components with an HDMI cable (not included you'll have to buy extras) so you can operate them all with your Viera Remote. Viera Connect will also allow you to access a multitude of online apps, including Netflix, Pandora, and more.
There is only a digital optical audio output on this TV, so be sure to check your home theater system. If it can't accomodate such (many models can't that aren't brand new), you either won't be able to run your home theater system, or will simply have to run your other components (satellite/cable box, game system, Blu-Ray or DVD player, etc) directly to the home theater instead of the TV.
The Panasonic TC-L42D30 Viera 42 LED HDTV comes with the TV itself, a removable stand, Viera remote (including batteries), and assorted paperwork/instructions.
