New newest in their series of Viera televisions is the Panasonic TXP50V20B 50 inch plasma display

. With its simple lines and elegant curves, the TXP50V20B is visually impressive upon first glance. In contrast to models from the previous years that featured black or bronze casing, the TXP50V20B has been constructed with a metallic gunmetal coloured bezel. Focusing more on function than style, the TXP50V20B features a sleek and minimalistic design that looks conservative in contrast to some competitors models.

Looking at the connection ports on the plasma television, there are slots for almost every kind of A/V connection that is commonly used today. Panasonic has equipped the TXP50V20B with four HDMI inputs (one side and three rear), an SD slot, a mini D-sub port, two side USB ports, an Ethernet connection, composite video connections, and a Mini D-sub port. The USB ports on the TXP-50V20B are particularly interesting. Like most televisions, the TXP50V20B allows users to connect a USB hard drive to the television to play back pictures, videos, and music files. By connecting a USB hard drive to the television, owners can record HD programming from Freeview and Freesat to watch at their convenience. { Whilst this is convenient, the recorded media can only be replayed on a Panasonic TXP50V20. | This is an excellent feature, however, shows recorded using the USB slots can only be watched on a Panasonic TXP50V20B. | This convenient feature is only slightly marred by the fact that one can only replay the programs on a Panasonic TX-P50V20.

The Ethernet port on the TXP50V20B allows users to access the internet via a wired or wireless connection. One advantage of connecting to the internet is being able to connect to Viera Cast, a service offered by Panasonic. Using this service allows TX-P50V20 owners to access Skype and stream programming for a low, monthly fee.

When turning on the television, one of the first things that is noticeable is the poor sound quality of the device. The bass sounds are often muddy, whilst the treble sounds can be harsh to the ears. By connecting the television to a surround sound system or to supplemental speakers, owners can remedy the problem.

Whilst the sound quality of the TX-P50V20 is slightly disappointing, the visual display is outstanding. Having been equipped with a 5,000,000:1 contrast ratio, the TX-P50V20 delivers outstanding black levels. Featuring a 600 Hz response time, the television offers smooth movement without any blurriness. Owing to Panasonics NeoPDP technology, the TXP-50V20 produces vibrant colours with high fidelity. Panasonic has also thankfully programmed the default settings very well at the factory, making setup a breeze.

For shoppers who are not concerned with getting a 3D television, the TXP50V20B is an outstanding choice. Overall, the TXP50V20B is a solid performer, sure to please most people. This plasma display has features that will please almost everyone including excellent black levels, an Ethernet port, USB recording, fast response times, and beautiful colours. Even though the sound system is slightly lacking, the overall quality of the Panasonic TX-P50V20 makes it the clear choice for people that are interested in purchasing a 50 inch plasma television.
