Paramour Tickets - Paramore Joins Tegan And Sara For A Road Trip On The Honda Civic Tour
How many indie-rock musicians can you fit into a Honda Civic
? Well, the obvious answer is "Not that many." It's all about economy, after all.
But good things come in small packages, and the Honda Civic Tour is sure to get music fans on the road this year. In 2010, the tour is going to be bringing indie-rockers Paramore together with twin sisters Tegan and Sara as an opening act. Both are respected names in alternative circles, though they represent a bit of a change since the Honda Civic Tour first revved its engine in 2001.
The first tour was a pop-punk affair headlined by blink-182, with Akaline Trio, Sum 41 and The Ataris featured among the openers. Mainstream rockers like Incubus, New Found Glory, Dashboard Confessional and Maroon 5 followed in successive years. The tour sidelined into a more pop bent in 2006 when will.i.am and Fergie were invited, but went back to punk in 2007 with Fall-Out Boy and more of an indie-rock direction with Panic at the Disco in 2008.
So what will 2010's show be like? Let's take a deeper look.
Paramore formed in 2004 when singer Hayley Williams met musicians Zac and Josh Farro. Though the lineup has changed slightly since then, they have remained constants. Williams has been especially important as the frontwoman for the band whose trademark, ear-splitting vocals made them standouts at battle of the bands gigs and early concerts. Very soon, they had their own record deal and released a debut, 2005's All We Know is Falling. But it was their second record, 2007's Riot! that established them as an emo-pop act of serious consequence.
That record earned the band its first platinum platter after 13 months on the charts. It also snagged them a Grammy for Best New Artist. They had arrived, and listeners all over the country were tuning in. They even wrote a couple tracks for the soundtrack to Twilight, earning them even more cred with the teen audience that had already seemed to take to them. The band released a third LP, Brand New Eyes, in 2009, which earned them even more praise from critics.
The opening act, Tegan and Sara, are an indie-rock duo with a pedigree. These twin sisters from Canada quickly earned notice in their hometown of Calgary for folk-rock that was emotionally raw and buoyed by sharp writing. Gaining the attention of Sarah McLachlan boosted their career by nabbing them an appearance at Lilith Fair back in 1998. Two years later, they had a record deal and had released their debut, This Business of Art.
The '00s have been an exceptionally productive time for them, with a total of five albums, the last of which came out last year (Sainthood). You probably know their 2004 single "Walking With a Ghost." Want to be in the crowd when these bands take the stage? Get Paramore Tickets online today.
