The benefits of these exercises are not just limited to patients but also help people whose profession involves excess use of the hand like guitar playing and wrestling. Hand strengthening exercises also help in fighting or controlling arthritis.

These exercises can be done by everyone including children. As a matter of fact they are extremely beneficial to children. These exercises tend to give a boost to their motor skills. They have the ability to improve the mobility of the wrist. Motion and dexterity are two things that all children ought to have and these exercises make sure that their range is increased. Coordination and balance of children also increases by leaps and bounds. The carpal tunnel syndrome which is extending its clutches everywhere can also be avoided by these exercises. One of the best ways to add strength to a child's hand is by putting some marbles on the floor and tell him to pick them up. Ask him to use his thumb and forefinger to do so. Make sure that he picks up the marbles until his palm is full and he is unable to pick up any more of them. Make him repeat the exercise with his other hand. To make this exercise more interesting you can add marbles of different colors.


Another way of increasing the strength of the hands is by touching the fingertips of your own hands. In this exercise, the child has to touch all his fingertips with his thumb. He can start with the forefinger, then the middle finger, then the ring finger and finally the little finger. After he has touched the little finger, make him do it the other way round. Make sure that he repeats this exercise about eight times.


There are many other exercises as well such as making the child balance a ball on his racquet will result in him getting a good sense of balance. Another way to improve dexterity is by making the child wear rings on his thumb and then asking him to take them out one by one with the help of his fingers. These exercises are to be done in sets of four.

The body of a child has to be nourished and conditioned properly. They are the future of the world. This makes them extremely valuable. Thus they have to be given utmost care and I sincerely hope that these exercises help them in becoming a better human being.
