Making patio cushions at home can be fun and save some money

. Patterns for making cushions can be purchased or with a little ingenuity they can be made without a pattern. A ruler or measuring tape, some fill material, some fabric and something to hold it all together is all it will take to make it fabulous. Measuring the area that they will be used for is the first step.

The seat and the back of the piece of furniture that the cushions will sit on is important, measure twice and cut once is the golden rule for all projects. They are probably best if they are made from some type of weather proof material for durability. Once the measurements have been taken the material should be cut with enough extra so that is can be sewed or glued to the cushion material itself. Three relatively simple steps and the result are homemade cushions.

The sky is the limit when it comes to styles of these that you can either make or buy. They can be very simple and functional or very ornate. Some are very thick and comfortable, some are not quite a thick but still add support and style to the patio furniture. Most are geared toward the great outdoors so they are made from floral print material or material that is colored to reflect the outdoors.

While one chair may be a few dollars, others may be far more expensive than you may expect. This is a great reason for you to simply replace the cushions, as you do not have to do with the financial burden of whole new furniture.

When you are choosing your cushions, be sure that you pay attention to the durability. Those that are less durable will not be able to withstand the elements such as rain, wind, or snow. Pay close attention to this factor in order to get the best for your money.

Always keep in mind any cushions that you put outdoors will take more abuse than those in doors. Be sure that the material you buy is able to resist water and mildew, in order to ensure that it will last for as long as possible.
