People Who Dont Know How To Hold A Hammer

I recently read a story in Helsingin Sanomat telling the story of so many apartments

being available and in need of some serious renovation (in Finnish: remontti). The story was rolling around on the matter of people not knowing how to renovate anymore. Simple things like hanging paintings on the wall, washing your own clothes, fixing the washing maschine, setting up a lamp, painting a wall or any other small task seem to be overwhelming today.

Where has all the experience that our parents, grandparents and their parents had on renovating and even building houses with their own hands gone?

Some of it might be explained by our generations parents being too nice and not wanting us to suffer the same post-war experiences and rebuilding that they experienced. Some might be due to laziness and the money that just came around.

One way or the other - buying a house, renovating and keeping it has been the best investment for ages and will be one for many more ages to come. When it comes to skills in renovating, its never too late to learn and it sure is not rocket science. Besides, it feels good to do something with your own hands and then enjoy the results.

Real estate brokers are actually being worried about the subject and they are trying their best to convince people to buy these apartments and renovate them.

Houses are different topic overall. Houses always need attention. When you buy an older house and think that you could just get away by mowing the lawn and painting the walls once a year - boy, youre wrong.

Houses, heating, oil or pellet, electricity, plumming, yard and much... much more. This is the reality of a house owner. Im happy to see so many of the shops around helping people renovate their homes. Giving tips and tricks and even then providing the equipment, that sure does make a difference.

If you have extra money or you want to make a home for yourself. Go there, buy an apartment, renovate it and then enjoy it. It is the best investment you can do for your future and I promise that you will enjoy the learning experience you get from doing something concrete with your own hands.
