The War between QQ and 360
Recently there is a war between the instant chatting tool Tecent QQ and the anti-virus software company 360. QQ has controlled the China chatting software and there are more than 600 million people using QQ. The amount is even much more then that of Facebook. Most of the users are Chinese or who speak Chinese. The 360 is famous for its free service and easy to use and there are more than 400 million people who are using 360 anti-virus software. There most popular two companies have a long history between each other and the conflict became fierce. QQ has launched a statement that you must uninstall the 360 so you can use QQ. This statement pissed all the Chinese netizens and there is hot debate about which software you will uninstall?
How the Battle Started
The conflict between the two companies would be no different, yes for profit! There are arguing over the opposite software is invading their own benefit; the QQ accused 360 of covering some of the functions of the chatting tool. 360 explained that QQ is scan the users' computer and their scanned all the private information. They are doing the right thing to protect the 360 users' privacy. Then on November 3, 2010 Tecent QQ sent a letter to all the QQ users declaring that unless they uninstall the 360 software, or the QQ would be automatically terminated. This news shocked the Chinese netizens and they all supported 360. Many experts said that QQ shouldn't use its monopoly in this battle and what made this worse is that they threatened the netizens' rights. They should make any choice for the customers. The netizens all suggest 360 should launch chatting software and they will use that. It might be a little difficult for them to make software in such a short time, but the instant chatting tool is so important for daily use. Then this would be a perfect chance for those instant chatting software companies like MSN, UC and even Facebook might take a step for the share of the big cake.
Who Will Take the Cake?
There are 1.3 billion in China and about half of them are using instant chatting tool, and for sure there will be more. The online shopping and E-business are the hottest topics. People need to use these kinds of communication for life and business. QQ has lost the reputation I their users and now the new ruler is about to come. Who will be the biggest holder of the cake in this field? MSN would be the best choice for it all ready has some many users in China; no doubt this battle has promoted it before all the netizens. In this battle there will be no winner, but the losers will be all the users.
