Perfect. Or Is It?

It might have been called a stalwart of its era

, but that didnt mean that it came without any discrepancies. The Samsung Galaxy S, as much as it was written about for its amazing hi-tech features and technology, had also been marred with disapproval by critics as well as users for some of its ill-fitting physical and technical specifications.

Rumors had been doing the rounds of how the Samsung Galaxy S, with its metal finish back panel and sleek design, bore such a close resemblance to the iPhone. These rumors were let down when the rumormongers laid hands on the former; only to find that the quality of the metal in the back panel was completely opposite in nature to what the iPhone is made of. The back panel as well as the front of the Samsung Galaxy S is not only plastic and finicky, but it is also not very sturdy and creaks and flexes at times.

The ergonomics and build quality of the phone were strictly put under the scanner for ill-fitting buttons and hand controls. The volume keys, power and silent key controls on the sides of the phone are all the hand controls, thus keeping them to the bare minimum. Not many applications or services can be navigated using these controls. The symmetry of the phones construction might be questioned, as the power button, which is on the right hand side panel, is in an off position. The position is vulnerable and you might accidentally press it to go to the power off menu, even if you didnt intend to.

Equipped with a 5MP camera and 720HD recording features, the quality of images that the Samsung Galaxy S is able to produce are fantastic, but the absence of a camera flash doesnt make up for the poor light that affects the quality of images to great lengths. A major drawback that has let this Smartphone down is that the camera app itself stops functioning. Also, the front camera is not very developed and thus cannot be used satisfyingly for many Android applications.

Another drawback surfaced when the alterations made in the ROM size of the phone affected the speed of its processor and introduced intervals and lags in many of the applications. The Android OS was rubbished when many users realized that their email settings in the phone had to be re-entered repeatedly, as the processor was unable to hold the data in its memory for long.
