Permanent Hair Removal Using Laser Hair Removal Treatment
Does Laser Hair Removal Really Work?
Does Laser Hair Removal Really Work?
Yes, laser hair removal really does work. That said, not all lasers or
light based machines are efficient at removing hair.
The easiest hair to remove is dark hair on light skin. A laser designed
to target the pigment chromophore (what the frequency goes after)
will work best here. An Alexandrite laser is exceptional in this situation. The 755 nanometer range targets pigment in the hair shaft with resulting heat and energy flowing down to the follicle. If the particular hair is in its active phase, most likely death of the follicle will ensue. If it is not in its active phase, it may damage the follicle somewhat, but it will still continue to produce a hair. This is the reason that more than one treatment is needed.
If one has darker skin, or lighter hair, an Nd:YAG laser may be used. It operates on a 1064 nanometer range and its target is collagen and
water. Since the follicle is contained in this layer or just below it, it may be heated sufficiently to cause damage or death.
Alternatively, some offices still try to utilize Intense Pulsed Light devices. On the average these are more painful and significantly less effective. You do not want to subject your self to this long, drawn out effort, which almost never is successful.
