Personal Stylist Tips: How To Wear Mustard
There is no doubt that, as Mark Twain once said
, that "Clothes Make the Man". Or Woman of course. Our clothes and style make a first impression and influence how others perceive us, so finding your personal style is a great way to feel comfortable and polished at the same time.
Whether you're following the latest fashion trends, or you stick to a classic style is not important. In the end, the only thing that is important, is that you're comfortable in your skin - and the right outfit can definitely help you to do that.
Now that the Southern Hemisphere is moving into the autumn and winter season, mustard is emerging as the hot new color to spice up your wardrobe. You might want to buy some full-on statement pieces to add to your wardrobe, or decide to simply add a few colorful accessories to spice up your outfits.
Well, just for you I've taken the time to review the latest mustard-like colors and how you can use them to spice up your wardrobe. Pick the one that suits your looks and your style.
Light Yellow
This light yellow mustard is probably the hardest shade of mustard to wear as it has an undertone of creaminess that washes most people out. If you're really fair and blonde or if you have a darker complexion with rich olive undertones, you will be able to wear it well though. Most others who are somewhere in between this spectrum will find it difficult to wear this color well.
Camel Brown
French mustard with a camel brown-inspired colour is great on food, but a real no-no in apparel. In any case, it's an amazing color for accessories, such as belts, bags or shoes. Or you can even try a skirt or a pair of pants which won't affect the way your face is perceived.
Deep Gold
A deep gold colour, think English Mustard, is a fabulous colour that will liven up any winter wardrobe. It is a much more user friendly shade of mustard, and is almost a deep gold in colour, so it evokes a sense of richness perfect for Autumn/Winter. You can decide to wear it in a dramatic look, combined with black, or go for a fresher outfit and combine it with white.
Mustard can be a hard colour to wear, so if in doubt, invest in just accessories such as a bag, clutch or even shoes. You can also try a pattern with hints of mustard through (think wholegrain mustard) to take the edge of the yellow if it is too overwhelming for you.
