Some of the most common health concerns associated with this breed are periodontal disease, the inflammation of the gums; epilepsy, a recurring seizure disorder; patellar luxation, a condition where the kneecap moves in and out of place; and progressive retinal atrophy, the gradual deterioration of the retina.

Pet insurance providers will reimburse pet owners a portion of the veterinary bill so that they do not have to make decisions based on how much money they are willing to spend, but on what is medically best for the health of the pet.
