Peter White learned to play on acoustic guitar his parents bought him when he was 8 years old

. Peter released his first solo album in 1990, followed by dozens of other albums.

Last week, he was in Atlanta, and he made one his few stops in the United States before his move to UK. . He'll then return to the U.S. for his tour with Dave Koz and Friends.

When asked about his last CD, he replied, my last CD "Playing Favourites," was all cover songs and I wanted to make an album of all original songs this time round. So I went into my archives and found a whole lot of songs that I had written but never recorded- that is what this CD is, some fairly new songs but mostly songs that I have been written over the last 15 years and have never seen the light of day-until now!

He said that he's always wanted to play and record with David Sanborn, and he almost got the chance lately when they were on a Smooth Jazz Cruise together, but unfortunately it didn't happen.

Peter White does not consider himself as a jazz musician, or a Smooth Jazz musician. He said that he's very happy that his music has been played on Smooth Jazz radio and with less radio stations out there, "we musicians have to become even more adept at marketing ourselves through our web sites and social networking sites such as Facebook and MySpace" he added.

Peter White will perform two shows at Sambuca for its popular JazzBeat Sunday's series.

For nearly two decades, Peter White has preserved a reputation as one of the most adaptable and prolific acoustic guitarists on the contemporary jazz landscape. Armed with an unparalleled combination of lyricism and energy, he joins elements of jazz, pop and classical guitar to create a sound that is singular and at the same time accessible to a broad audience.

Peter White has serves on the Boards of the North Carolina Plant Conservation Program, the Center for Plant Conservation and Discover Life in America.
