Antibiotics, seizure medication, high blood pressure medication, birth control pills, antidepressants, pain killers, and tranquilizers are just a few of the types of drugs that scientist have detected in human water supply. These pharmaceuticals end up in the water supply when people dispose of them by flushing them down the sewage drain, or even after the drugs pass through their digestive systems and are excreted as waste. Some of the pharmaceuticals in the water supply also come from hospitals and other medical facilities.

So what does this do to your health? Unfortunately, because this discovery is still relatively new in the United States, scientist are unsure of the effect these trace drugs may have on our bodies. Of course to prevent unnecessary concern, scientists are currently reporting that there is no cause for alarm. That is for humans. Scientists are concerned with the effect these drugs may have on aquatic wildlife. So in the meantime, unless you live in the sea, there's no need for you to stop drinking those eight cups of eight ounces daily!
