Philadelphia Airport Parking - Steps To Cut Down On Car Parking Fees

What Philadelphia Airport parking would you suggest to a friend or a family member

? My sister sought my opinion on this recently as she was organizing a holiday trip to Europe. The family is flying out of PHL to Madrid on a 15-day trip, they reside in D.C. but my sister was able to ferret out lower-priced tickets from PHL. Theyre driving up to Philadelphia from Washington D.C. for the flight and intended to have their van ready for them at Philly for some sight seeing when they get back.

With greater than 31 million passengers traveling through Philadelphia International Airport (PHL) every year, looking for a parking site on the spot with no prior reservations can be a formula for an appallingly difficult trip. Philadelphia Airport parking on-site is well-situated but also high priced and can quickly fill to capacity especially in the course of the holidays. What are her alternatives beyond the airport?

First, lets consider the PHL parking options. Definitely, the $300 15-day parking fee at the terminal garages will not do, so we started looking for economy parking rates. Budget parking at PHL is provided at the lot near Island Avenue. Still conveniently within sight of the terminal with complimentary ground transportation that PHL operates but at $11 per day, that is equivalent to $165 for a 15-day outdoor parking. My sister said we should continue browsing.

Off-airport, a few private providers provide very attractive parking rates for PHL travelers. We reviewed all the rates and sorted out the choices to the Colonial parking lot on S Governor Printz Blvd and the ExpressPark lot on Tinicum Island Rd. Colonial costs a trifle more (at $133 for 15 days parking) than Expresspark ($119), but its strongly endorsed by many users so we regarded the $14 discrepancy is well worth the excellent quality of service in this establishment.

But, my sister realized that they might have to stay at a neighboring airport inn when they get back to do a bit of visiting in the city the next day - their return flight from Europe is due to land at PHL at 3:30 in the afternoon - too limited a window later to visit Phillys attractions and drive 2 hours back to D.C.

In that scenario, the best option is probably hotel parking, I said to my sister. She was afraid that it could get frightfully pricey, but when I informed her that its actually the most budget-friendly option taking into account their travel specifications she decided to look more closely.

Once again, we did an appraisal of all the airport hotels in the area and narrowed down the options between Ramada Airport Hotel and Skyview Plaza Hotel and Suites. The two hotels are situated very close to the terminal and both operate round-the-clock ground transportation. Theres a sizable gap in charges though - Ramadas room rate for 4 persons with 14-day free parking starts at $189 whilst Skyview only costs $109 for the exact same package. I called up a friend who frequently flies out of PHL and had used Ramada in numerous occasions in the past. She reported that Ramada is flawless in her past visits and the cost difference is really worth it.

Eventually, my sister resolved to proceed with Ramada for their Philadelphia Airport parking and needed to know if she can get the 1 day parking charge ($7.95) for their 15th day of parking discounted from the total bill. I left her haggling with the hotel parking manager - thats my ever penny-pinching sister, bless her. I look forward to enjoying the family photos of Hemingways table and the roasted suckling pig at Botins.
