Simon DrewTake your music with you wherever you go; the Samsung M2310 is made for both comfort and style. The clamshell form is more than just sleek and stylish, it is also very practical. The 1 inch screen on the top of the device provides an overview of the phones current status without having to flip it open. Also, the top portion has an extra speaker that provides high-quality music output. This phone is definitely made for the much younger generation with the focus on the music playback, the devices style and affordable price tag. This device has a very solid position in Samsungs GSM lineup; unlike the Genio (Corby) series, this one is a little less on tech and a little more on fun. GSM Details and Phone Dimensions The size of this phone is 93 x 45 x 17.6 mm and it has a weight of approximately 85 grams. Being a clamshell phone, the thickness is expected and 17.6 mm is not that bad compared to other clamshells or slider phones. While it might have helped to have the phone a little thinner, the extra parts such as second screen and larger speaker makes up for the added thickness. The 85 gram weight is very light by all phone standards, and that even includes the battery. Size and weight-wise, this phone is easy to carry around. GSM phones tend to be limited in internet connectivity options. As you might expect, this 2G gadgets comes with only GPRS and EDGE. While GPRS can be slow and unreliable at times (Class 10, 4+1/3+2, 48 kbps) it can still can the job done; but if you want better performance, theres always EDGE (Class 10, 236.8 kbps). For network bands, the m2310 supports quad band 2G networks (850, 900, 1800 and 1900 bands). Audio Playback and Display Screen The music playing features on this phone are pretty basic, but it is the actual quality that shines. The phone comes with dedicated music buttons for instantly accessing the player, a 3.5mm audio jack for listening with your favorite ear phones and it also has a larger speaker on the outer casing as well. The music quality is greatly enhanced thanks to the Digital Natural Sound Engine (DNSe). The Samsung M2310 has two screens; a smaller 1 inch screen on the front and a larger 2 inch main screen. The CSTN display up front has a resolution of 96 x 96 pixels and it does a great job of showing important info that is easy to read. Flip the phone open and you get to enjoy the nicely designed 2 inch TFT screen with a resolution of 176 x 220 pixels (256 thousand color display capability). Battery Life The phones 800 mAh battery is a little low-capacity compared to that of other devices, but it still lasts pretty long This phone will stay powered or 350 hours of standby and 7 hours and 30 minutes of talk time on a full charge. Unless you are planning to out for more than a couple of days, leaving the house with a full charge will guarantee that you will have enough power until you get back.About the Author:
