for your lawn or wherever it is that you need it, it can be somewhat confusing as to which type of grass is perfect for your situation. The type of grass that you choose will depend on a number of factors and knowing a little about the different types will also help in making that decision.

There are a number of factors that have to be aware of when deciding which type of grass seed to plant. Perhaps one of the most important factors that you should focus heavily on is the amount of sunlight that is present in the area that you wish to plant. Grass seed is classified into a few different categories based on the amount of sunlight or shade that it is made to grown in. The three main classifications are sunny, sun/shade, and shade classifications. Before making your decision, monitor the area where youll be planting the grass. Is there a lot of sunlight present throughout the day? If so, youll want to purchase grass seed that is more adapted to directly sunlight. Do you have partial sunlight and partial shade throughout the day? Youll want to buy the sun/shade mixture which is made to grown in a mix of conditions when it comes to lighting. If you have complete shade in the area where you plan on growing, then youll want to purchase the shade mix. You wouldnt want to buy the shade mix if youre going to be planting the seed in an area that gets total sunlight throughout the day. The shade mix grass seed would not grow well in this scenario.

There are also factors that involve the area in which youll be planting the grass. Factors such as the amount of moisture present. Is it a dry and sandy area? Is it a damp area or does it contain a lot of moisture. These types of factors will weigh your decision in purchasing grass seed as there are types for just about every growing condition that may be present in your yard.

There are a number of different types of grass, all of which are made to grow in certain climates, seasons, and conditions. Youll want to buy the type of grass that is designed to grow in the type of environment in which you live. Grasses can be categorized according to the different seasons in which they grow. There are types of grass that grow best in cooler seasons which include cold winters and warm summers. These types of grasses include Bentgrass, Bluegrass, Fescue, and Ryegrass. For climates that do not have drastic changes to the seasons, particularly in states like Virginia, Kentucky, Tennessee, Georgia, and other states in this general region, some of the bests types of grass include Bentgrass, Fescue, Ryegrass, Thermal Blue, and Zoysia. Wheatgrass is another type of grass that is typically not used for lawns, but for making juice so this type of grass would not be appropriate.

If you plan on planting a new lawn, or repairing your existing lawn, its important that you pay attention to the factors that will determine which seed you should be. The biggest factors being the amount of sunlight and the climate in which the grass will be growing. Knowing these two details will get you well on your way to choosing the right type of grass and having a great new lawn.
