You can rely on your passions or even your work skills to help you in making this decision. For example, if you are an attorney, find a group to join that needs legal aid or guidance. If you are a stay at home mother, you may be more inclined to work with children instead. What is important to know here is that you can find opportunities for virtually any skill you have.

You may want to do some research on the financials of the organization to ensure you are confident they are a quality organization to be a part of. It is a good idea to learn not only about the opportunity, but also about the group behind it.

Sometimes you may feel a calling to work with one organization or another. In other cases, you may find that you just need to have some interest in the work you will do. If there is some cause or some type of need that speaks to you more so than others, find a group within that niche that needs you. It is a good idea to do this because it will give you the motivation to do all that you can to help that person or organization.
