Pixels: Tiny Dots with Huge Effects on Digital Imaging
Pixels are basically a unit used to form images
. We may not notice them at first, but if we are going to understand how these tiny pieces of dots contributes to the life and quality of images we see everyday, we will be amazed of its ability to produce high quality images.
We see pixels each time we see images printed in paper, a cell forming the entire lcd screen showing vivid colors, or if we are using a computer, these are what is commonly called as the resolution.
The revolution of computers in its ability to provide much faster processing speed had also lead to the advancement when it comes to graphics. We can clearly see true to life images produced by high-end computers.
Not only that, pixels has gone a long way in the world of gaming, digital photography, and architectural and engineering projects. In a technical term, a pixel is a code that is recognized and processed by a computer to store digital images.
How a computer process pixels to produce enhanced images in a digital format? Basically, computers read information in a binary code through the use of ones and zeros respectively. This might get a little hard to understand especially for those who have never heard of binary codes even before.
Let us say that in an image there is an eight-bit code, which means eight succeeding numbers. If these numbers are all zero, then we could produce a black color and also known as no intensity. On the other hand, if the numbers are all ones, this will result in a binary code equal to 255, which means that there is a high intensity. Therefore, an image will produce a high intensity or white.
There are a variety of number combinations which forms different colors. One common color combination is the rgb or the red, green, and blue color. If the numbers are a combination of hexadecimal numbers and digits, we can produce a particular color. Try to test this on an application with palette and you will see the mixing of numbers to produce a color.
In short, pixels are tiny combination of colors which produces images and either high or low quality. Not only that, these pixels can also be used as a form of advertising medium to showcase small or even larger logo of each business.
No doubt that the power of computers and televisions to provide the best output of images and videos digitally has contributed to the advertising and computing world. These are the tiny dots that are sometimes get neglected but with amazing capability to create astonishing graphics for advertising, gaming, and digital image processing.
