If you are an adventure lover, just go to Tarifa

. This small town is located along the coast where the Mediterranean meets the Atlantic Ocean. This town can be

reached through Malaga and Seville. Tarifas nearest airport is Jerez. There are several important and beautiful places to visit by a tourist in Spain, and Tarifa is one of

these. Its geographic location beside the two mighty oceans is certainly an ideal spot for holidaying.

What to do in Tarifa

This place is most ideal for water sports like wind surfing. The beach is quite windy and visitors should be beware of the great sharks that had been seen gathering

offshore. So, windsurfing in this environment will certainly be exciting and suspenseful. Apart from wind surfing there are other water sports and activities like kite

surfing, boating, fishing etc. Those who are beginners in windsurfing can enroll in a training course. There are many windsurfing training schools in Tarifa. Those who

are interested can just go around this small city and inquire where they can find one of these schools.

If you are not interested in windsurfing and do not want to take risks, you can find other things to do to enjoy your stay. You can spend the time playing other games or

take a stroll on the long beach. Ah! There is yet another interesting event: just watch the whales and dolphins in their natural habitat. There are many shows arranged;

just ask the tour operators how to get there.

Visit the historic church of San Mateo. This church and the adjacent buildings are believed to have been constructed in the 16th Century. Dont fail to visit the Arab

Castle. This is one of the oldest castles and is believed to have been built in 960 AD. History says that Caliph Abderrman III ordered the construction of this castle.

The archeologists say that this castle was built on the remnants of a fort built during the Roman times. Jerez gate is another sacred place to visit in this village.

While in Tarifa, make it a point to visit the Paleolithic carvings in the Cueva del Moro; this is a cave estimated to be around 18000 years old. It is believed to belong to

the Solutrean civilization. These unbelievably beautiful works were explored by Lothar Bergmann in 1995. An interesting fact about the carvings made on the rock is

that most of the figures depicted are horses.

Take a walk on the narrow cobbled streets of the village. The village is full of jasmine flowers and most of the buildings have wrought iron gates, which are

representative of traditional gates in this historic place.
