Spain is a wonderful place for tourists. It is a country rich in natural beauty and has lots of places of importance to keep a tourist busy and yet feel relaxed. There are places of historical importance; each church, cathedral or castle speaks of the influence of ancient civilization on the life of the people of Spain. Most of these historical places are located on the beach of the Mediterranean Sea or on the various mountains running parallel to the sea. On the top of it there are many villas and hotels where the tourists can enjoy a comfortable stay.

Ontinyent, a town on the famous Costa Blanca is one such place of interest that is most frequently visited by many tourists throughout the year. The city is greatly influenced by the Moors and Christian civilization. It retains its original charismatic look besides being an industrially advanced city. Places of interest in Ontinyent are as follows:

Santa Maria Church:

This church is considered to be the tallest church of Valencia. The tower measures approximately 71 meters. This church which is built in Gothic design also has some trace of Roman architecture which suggests that some alterations have been done to the structure of the building during the Roman period. This church is considered to be one of the most beautiful ancient churches of Costa Blanca. It is frequented by many visitors throughout the year.

The town:

Despite industrialization, the houses on the countryside have retained their natural beauty. The cobbled and serpentine roads with ancient buildings on both sides take the visitor back to the period of Moors. The Plaza Mayor is a famous place where one can see the town hall which is located in the midst of a beautiful garden. Some of the ancient buildings in Ontinyent are Casa del Consell, Almodi and Porxets. It is certainly a pleasure to see these ancient buildings which are a standing example of the mastery in the field of architecture.

The palace:

The Torrefeil palace is yet another place visited by many tourists. This palace believed to have been built during 15th 17th century is considered to be one of the most beautiful palaces ever to be built. This beautiful palace is also popular for its spacious portico, kings audience room, etc.

Industries:

Ontinyent is the home for many popular brands of textile. Apart from textile industry, the town is also famous for earthen wares, whisky and brandy. Despite its rapid industrialization, the town has maintained its traditional natural beauty.
