BOTANICAL GARDENS The Botanical Gardens offer a stunning collection of 6
,500 species of Tropical flora and fauna, like Victoria Regia water lilies and exotic species of orchids. This garden of about 54 hectares was first ordered by the Brazilian Emperor, Dom Jaon VI in the year 1808. This is located in the Jardim Botanico district of Rio.
IPANEMA BEACH This is one of the most popular beaches of Rio that stretches for over 7.5 kilometres. The beach has been named after the neighbourhood of Ipanema, where it is located in. The water in this beach is cleaner than most other Rio beaches which make it one of the best beaches to swim in. It is situated between the Dos Irmaos Mountains in the West and the neighbourhood of Copacabana in the East. The roads are closed to the vehicles on Sundays which makes it an ideal place to enjoy a long walk. The tourists can leisurely soak in the atmosphere and indulge in various beach sports and adventure sports.
COPACABANA BEACH It is one of the most famous beaches of Rio that is located in the neighbourhood of Copacabana. It stretches for about 4 kilometers. The Portuguese Pavement, constructed along the beach, also attracts tourists in large numbers. This pavement has been a source of inspiration for artists over many years because of its unique wavy shape. Like in the Ipanema Beach, this beach too offers a variety of adventure and entertainment activities, like beach volleyball. If you are not into adventure sports, you can have a relaxing swim in the cool and welcoming waters.
SANTA TERESA This is one of the old neighbourhoods of Rio that overlooks the Guanabara Bay. The residential buildings and bohemian cafes, along the cobbled streets, give the tourists a peek into the lifestyle of the elite people who inhabited this neighbourhood in the nineteenth century. A trekking tour to the top of the mountains will ensure that you get a picturesque view of the bay. If you are not interested in trekking, you can take a leisurely ride on the old-fashioned tram that chugs through this neighbourhood.
CHRIST THE REDEEMER It is the worlds largest Art Deco statue of Jesus the Nazareth that is around 40 feet tall. It had been constructed between 1922 and 1931, on Mount Corcovado in the Tijuca National Park, overlooking the Guanabara Bay. This statue that has voted as one of the New Seven Wonders of the World, is made of soapstone and concrete. It is an ideal representative of Brazilian Christianity.
