If you love cheese, then you surely should visit ALAIOR

. Two well known companies have their shops near the main road. You can easily reach these shops since there are signposts to guide you. The first of these is La Payesa, open 9am-1pm followed by a break, and open again from 5-8pm from Monday to Friday. The other outlet is comparatively bigger and far better, owned by Coingo; it has the same opening times except they are also open on Saturdays 9am-1pm. Both have the same products, which were originally exported from a port called Queso Mahon, and therefore are also named after the port.

If you have a craving for cheese, then Menorca is the stop for you. The cheese here is made from cow and from goats' milk. For a distinctive flavor, they also add ewe milk. You can go to any shop and find cheese in four different stages: tiemo (young), semi curado (semi-mature), curado (mature) and anejo (very mature). This cheese is a bit on the expensive side, but it's surely worth it. If you are a cheese lover, you shouldn't miss out on this.

Every year in August there is a festival called Festa de Sant Llorenc, which takes place on the second weekend of the month in the streets on the hill just above these shops. All the houses there are white washed. You will also find the imposing Santa Eulalia Church above the houses.

If you are there to enjoy yourself and have the money to spend, you should stay at the La Noria De San Bou Hotel. It is the best and is at a walking distance from the beaches. It has a traditional design, more like a mansion, with a swimming pool which is quite large, as well as gardens all around where you could enjoy a walk in the evening.

But you need not worry if you are a bit short on the budget. Hotel Jeni is quite a popular hotel; its restaurant is located in the center. This would be best for you if you want to enjoy your holidays. You could step out onto the balcony for a view of the beaches, or even go and relax in the swimming pool. You can choose from a variety of dishes. You could indulge in various activities during your stay; cooking courses are available or you could enjoy nature as you wish.
