Planning A Baby Shower - Simple And Fun For Everyone
You just found out that your best friend is pregnant
, and you immediately start planning a baby shower for her. Once you calm down from your initial excitement, though, you realize that it is probably a little too early, and you wait until a couple of weeks or so before the date you set for the shower to start planning. Now, the idea of a baby shower may be fun and exciting, but planning one is an entirely different matter. It can be difficult and even stressful, especially if you obsess over everything being just perfect.
The first thing to do in these kinds of situations is relax. The next part involves actually planning a baby shower. Before you start, though, make sure you know what your friend would like or would not like at this party. She is the one you are throwing it for, after all. For example, some mothers-to-be do not like the typical games that are played at these showers and prefer to stick to intimate conversations. Others might not like too many people at the party. Whatever your party ideas are, make sure they fit her personality.
Before you begin brainstorming celebration ideas, you will want to decide if you are going to have a theme. It can be based around the gender of the baby or a baby's nursery, etc. Although not necessary, it is helpful to have a theme when planning a baby shower because it will make choosing the decorations, invitations, and even food easier. Before you buy stuff for the party, it is important to know how many guests are going to be attending. Normally, the party invitations are sent out at least a couple of weeks before so you know how many people will be coming before you start the buying.
Once you have gotten the decorations and invitations all set, you can start thinking up games if you decide to have them. General baby shower games include "Pin the Diaper on the Baby," baby shower crossword puzzle, scrambled baby names, guessing mommy-to-be's tummy size, or you can think up theme-related games if you have a theme. It is important to buy party favors for the guests, which could also be theme-related. General favors include miniature tealight holders, candle sets, picture frames, and chocolates, each personalized with the date of the shower or a picture of a baby to remind your guests of all the fun they had. The most important part of all when planning a baby shower, though, is to have fun!
