When you shop for new major kitchen appliances you are probably expecting to dish out a decent amount of money

In the long-run this makes far less of a difference than: a) the dimensions of the appliance (height x width x depth); b) the design and materials, such as stainless steel, and c) the average lifespan. Those three factors are more important than getting the most recent model. Who needs the 2012 wolf kitchen appliances at full sale when you can get the 2011 versions at discount prices?
Also, try and find local retailers. Oftentimes when you seek out local distributors you can find better prices because they get their shipments directly from the manufacturer. That's different than the biggest name chain stores that order and hold their goods in a warehouse until stock runs low. When stores purchase their stock from manufacturers they can pass the savings directly onto you. It means that there is no charge for the "middle man" and you're really getting the appliances.
And lastly, always find the lowest average market price on the items that interest you. If you can prove to the retailer that they are overcharging for a certain home appliance then you can maybe negotiate the price down by a little bit or at least get some sort of compensation for the difference, whether it's free installation or extended return date. It really cannot hurt to do a little bit of reading before you go shopping because the better informed you are, the better the purchase decisions you will make.
