Plant Tissue Culture
Hi I am Dr. Renu. I have a great knowledge about tissue culture. I have a great interest in science. I like to read science. That's the reason I have started a blog on tissue culture to share my interest and knowledge with everyone through the blog. Anyone can learn everything about tissue culture and certainly get benefited by reading the blog i.e. http://:www.plantissueculture.com
Presently this will let you know about tissue culture and related articles but later on you will get benefited by important aspects about science.
Plant tissue culture is an art and science of growing a small part or cell of a plant on a cultured or chemically treated agar media and to see its developing as a mass of cells (callus) or giving rise many small shoots (micro propagation) or developing into embryo like structures (somatic embryos) or into a complete plantlet (plant regeneration).
Technically tissue culture is the technique of growing aseptically, isolated plant parts on a synthetic media under artificial environmental conditions.
Presently tissue culture technique has now advanced to a level where it can be applied to overcome economic problems.Until recently this technique has become extremely valuable in agriculture. Agriculture scientists are using it in various fields such as hybridization, variety development and their conservation. It is now possible to propagate plants of great economic value like orchids, ornamentals and other crops through tissue culture technique.
Plant breeding has gained a lot from the field of tissue culture which enable them to produce superior disease resistant varieties of crops, fruits and vegetables through anther culture to speed the attachment of homozygosity, protoplast culture and fusion to induce somatic hybridization or modification of the cell by foreign DNA, test tube pollination and to remove barriers of crossability.
This technique is the key to progress in biotechnology. Besides agriculture, its further applications are in horticulture, forestry and forestry. This technique involves various aspects like callus culture, shoot tip culture, embryo culture, regeneration, micropropagation, somatic embryogenesis, protoplast culture, cryopreservation and haploid plant production etc.
