Well it is coming spring again and is time for you to start setting up the things that you are going to put in your garden
. Are you going to have a big one or one for just a few plants? You will need a few things before you get started. This would be the space to put this garden in and then the tools to do it with. The bigger the garden the more tools you might need. First you will need to prepare the ground. This you will need some kind of machine to break up the ground. This might be a tractor with a disk or a plow. You might have to do this a couple of times to get this soil the way it will be to be.
You will probably have to find a good fertilizer to mix into this soil and then you might even have to put in lime to help kill off the grass and the weeds that are in this dirt. When you put this stuff in this garden it is best to allow it to rain at least once or water this plot yourself to allow it to settle. After this is done you can then go to buy your plants. This part can be fun and then very hard. You will need to pick just what you want and then make sure that you get just enough for the people you plan to feed. Some of the stuff you want you might be able to find in a plant already growing and then the rest will be seeds.
When planting by seed follow the instructions on the package. These instructions are there to help you with the best times to plant them and also it will tell you what the soil temperature has to be for the best growth. It will also tell you what to look for if something attacks this plant. When using started plants you need to make sure they are not attacked by what is called transferred shock. This is something that happen when taking a plant from a pot to setting it in the ground. If at all possible leave this plant in its original container when putting it in the ground. This will allow this plant a better chance at staying alive.
If this happens to be your first garden you might want to start out small. If this first one turns out great then you can make a bigger one each year. Only remember to make this garden only the size that you will be able to take care of.
