Cosmetic surgery can give you the body and the confidence you have always wanted. There are procedures that can correct and improve almost every aspect of your appearance. As technology increases there are more ways to have natural and non-invasive operations that can create stunning results.

Once you have decided that you would like to have some work done choosing a good plastic surgeon is the most important thing you can do. There are several questions you want to ask yourself, and ask your doctor when choosing the medical professional that wil give you the body of your dreams.

First and foremost you want to make sure that the doctor you choose is board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgeons. This is different than board certified in your state to do cosmetic surgery or nationally certified to practice medicine. A certification ensures that you are only receiving the highest quality care available.

Second you want to discuss all aspects of the procedure including length of surgery, recovery time and risks and complications that are possible with the procedure you will be undergoing. All medical procedures carry with them risks and some are greater than others. You should be fully briefed in what to expect both before and after you go under the knife. A big part of this is asking your plastic surgeon how long you should expect to have to recover after your operation.

This is important because you may be able to pay for the procedure itself and then lose money because you were unable to return to work and did not realize you would be out of commission so long.

It is especially important you talk with your plastic surgeon about the type and extent of anesthesia that will be used. This cannot only be an extremely expensive aspect of surgery but also can be the most dangerous part of any medical procedure. Part of this conversation with your doctor should be the discussion of your past medical history and your current health.

Finally ask to see pictures of some of your plastic surgeons results and testimonials from other patients. The best way to gauge your doctor is to see their work and hear their reputation. You should feel comfortable with the job they will do before you agree to have them do work on you.

If the plastic surgeon fails to bring up any of these things do not hesitate to ask and if you are not satisfied go somewhere else. It never hurts to get a second opinion either. Remember, this is your body and you have to live with the work they do to it.
