There has been a bit of speculation over the safety of bouncy castles. Parents slightly worried for the safety of their children. Bouncy castles are not unsafe in the slightest unless they aren't properly installed, poorly supervised or are the inflatable itself is faulty. Inadequate tethering, leaks and faulty blowers, children falling off, trip hazards and overcrowding are the main hazards of a bouncy castle. This can be avoided easily with the right supervision.

There are many checks a supervisor must carry out before the bouncy castle is free for play.

Always make sure the bouncy castle is secured properly to level flat ground.

There should be crash mats surrounding the openings and around the inflatable.

Never let bigger, older children jump around with the younger children.

At least 1 person at all times most watch and supervise everything.

Ensure there is no overcrowding, allow children to play in smaller groups.

Always make sure children remove shoes, and any items of clothing that may cause harm.

No food or drink on the inflatable.

Supervisor to ensure bouncy castle isn't abused, causing it to be faulty.

Children should not be allowed to climb the walls, push one another or perform acrobatics.

Don't allow children to jump off the bouncy castle, as can cause injury.

Having a bouncy castle is a great way to encourage children to become more active, and allows them to play outside, rather than inside the house all the time. With the right level of supervision, having a bouncy castle will give your children a lot of laughs, and an opportunity to be active in a fun way.
