It's natural to think this way because normally when couples break up, they want to draw their ex's attention to themselves.
Many people are under the misconception that jealousy can help you get your ex back. It's a mistake that most people make and end up completely ruining any chances of reuniting with their ex's. The reason is that you have to understand that your ex isn't necessarily thinking like you are. If you know you would feel jealous to see your ex with someone else, that's probably not going to be the case with your ex.
