Plus size Shorts. Yay or Nay?

I've always found that there is a certain stigma surrounding plus size women wearing shorts. There's nothing quite as unattractive as a pair of shorts that looks like they are being eaten by a woman's crotch in the front. We've all seen it. It's not flattering no matter what size you are. And since plus size ladies tend to have bigger thighs that often touch each other the affect tends to happen more often.

Butif you are afull figured woman you don't have to write shorts outof your wardrobe altogether. Like anything else, size and fit matter when it comes to shorts. The difficult part is finding shorts that fit your plus size curves, cover the right amount of skin, but are still flattering. I'm not gonna lie, if you find this you've pretty much found the holy grale and you should buy several pairs!

My best suggestion is for you to ask yourself 'why do I want to wear shorts? ' Is it the weather? Is it what everyone else is wearing? Do you just think summer automatically dictates a pair for shorts with every outfit? You don't like wearing skirts? I'll let you answer the question for yourself but I'd like to point out some alternatives for you to consider.

If weather is your concern, ie your personal thermometer is off the charts unless you wear shorts in the summer, then let's talk Fabric. Fabrics that can breathe easily can be just as comfortable in warm weather as a pair of shorts. For instance, linen pants -- they are dressier than a pair of shorts any day of the week and not only do they breathe well but they're comfortable as all get out! And there are only about a thousand light-weight cotton/poly synthetic blends that are also designed to keep you cool without exposing any skin.

If you think your only alternative to plus size shorts is a skirt and that's just 'not your style' then consider a capri pant in the above listed fabrics. Capris can be styled to fit your personal taste whether its classic, modern, fashion forward or moreearthy. And if it's been awhile since you bought or tried on a skirt I would suggest that you reconsider. It's on fashion these days to wear leggings or tights underneath your skirt or tunic and the look itself is very cute!
