Poison That Can Cure
Ordinarily after the physical examination, when you see a group of people in nurse scrubs, you feel like your stomach is full of butterflies... especially if one of those tells you to approach the doctor personally, you feel like being so nervous, right? It is true most probably, if you tend to manifest symptoms of having something severe. What then will you feel if one of the doctors in doctors lab coats says to you, "You are positive for having cancer cells..."? You might shout for grief.
It is a known fact that chemotherapy is a poison. It is a poison which according to some, cures... but according to others, kills the patient before the cancer cells kill them. As you go on with your reading, you can already identify if chemotherapy is actually a poison that cures or a poison that harms. You may act like a medical professional wearing various nursing scrubs, as you are having a research about this cancer treatment.
The pros of chemotherapy are that it reduces the risk of developing the symptoms of cancer most especially in the advanced stage, and that it gives hope to the patient that his life will be prolonged. But, the cons of chemotherapy start from the feeling of being so ugly; mostly of the cancer patients suffer discomfort by having hair loss and drying of skin. Other patients also suffer from tiredness as well as bowel movement in a very frequent interval. Some of the people in doctors lab coats even say that it deteriorates the quality and value of life rather than the other way around.
Radiation and chemotherapy may be of benefit to some cancer patients if it is done earlier. But, if you are already suffering from bladder cancer for instance (where it is diagnosed in the later stage), chemotherapy is no longer advisable. Actually, all of the people in doctors lab coats have difference in opinion here. Some believe that chemotherapy is not curing even considering earlier detection of cancer, others contradict it.
But there is something that you must know about chemotherapy. And that is the long-term effect of which to the cancer patients. It is possible because some of the effects of chemotherapy exist long after the treatment has already ended. Such can very much affect some of the internal organs of the patient such as the heart, the lungs, and others. It might have complication to them to the extent that it will then cause their sudden death.
Chemotherapy is a poison. Some poisons can cure. In this case, chemotherapy may prolong the life of the cancer patient if treated earlier. However, it may also expedite the life of the victim if given later than usual.
