Police Lights Are Cops Companions
Even some police boots have pockets to store these lights
. Policemen always take care to carry reserve batteries and bulbs for their lights so that they are not without a functional light even for a second. A war is won as much by the courage of a soldier as by the weapons made available to him for fighting. The same goes for policemen. A crime is solved by the police as much by their courage, acumen, and reasoning capacity, as by the tools made available to them for doing the job. And among the many tools available to them for the job, one of the more important ones is police lights.
A perfectly functional flashlight is every policeman's indispensable better half. Policemen on night patrol will be completely defenseless and clueless without the right type of police lights. While this is obviously so, they carry high intensity police lights even when the sun is at its brightest. In the type of work that policemen have to do, an ultra bright handheld light might help better than sunlight. A trail of blood, or other evidence that policemen need to examine, might be underneath a vehicle or inside a ravine. In the former case, if the car is driven out, the evidence might be destroyed. In the latter case, the place may be permanently unvisited by the sun. In both cases, valuable evidence will have to be recorded with the help of police lights.
As their lights are inseparable appendages of policemen, all efforts are being made to modify these lights and make them more useful as a crime detection tool, or defensive armor. Police lights can nowadays be switched modes in the twinkling of an eye to be used as a searchlight, spot light, or flood light. Since LED lights are now extensively used in police lights, color range availability in these lights is also very high. This is another helpful feature for policemen because different types of lights aid in crime investigation. Blue light is helpful in tracing a trail of blood at night.
There is no dearth of features that come attached to police lights these days. Cameras, and audio and video recording facilities, are incorporated into many police lights. There are concealed pepper sprays in many lights. Pepper spray lights come in very handy for riot control police, especially when they have to control a mob in dim light. It becomes like getting two birds with one shot for they can use the light to see the enemy and fire the pepper spray.
Light sources, that can produce psychedelic colors strong enough to disorient a rioting mob or a crime suspect, are also part of some police lights. Incorporation of other non-lethal weapons into police lights is also being considered. Studies are being made in integrating acoustic or sonic weapons to police lights that can momentarily incapacitate the enemy with high decibel sounds, or by its effects on the central nervous system.
Such experiments, if they succeed, would turn police lights into virtual weapons. However, even in its present day incarnation, police lights can temporarily double as a club or hammer with which a policeman can save him when stuck in a difficult bottleneck.
